Catherine “Katie” Fischer, 91, formerly of Linton, ND, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2024 at Bethany Retirement Living Care Center, Fargo, ND.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Linton, ND.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5pm to 7pm on Monday, September 30, 2024 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, with a rosary/vigil at 7pm.

Katie was born on March 7, 1933 in Hague, ND to Emmanuel and Theresa (Heilman) Miller.  She attended rural school west of Hague.  Katie married her sweetheart and the love of her life, Lawrence “Larry” T. Fischer on November 6, 1950 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Hague.  They settled on the Fischer family farm 11 miles east of Strasburg until they retired and moved to Linton in 1985.  They had celebrated 47 years of marriage when Larry passed away in 1996. 

Katie worked hard on the farm.  She was an excellent seamstress, great cook and baker.   Her grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews especially loved her kuchen, caramel rolls, buns and pickles.   She enjoyed playing guitar, singing, gardening, bowling, playing cards, and going to the casino with friends.   She printed family pictures on her computer that she used to create photo albums for her children.   She had a strong sense of faith, and enjoyed reading about Mary, Mother of Jesus.   She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Christian Mothers.  

Katie was a member of the homemakers, Catholic Order of Foresters, and a beloved member of the Linton community.

Katie is survived by her five children:  Linda Huber, Moorhead, MN, Kelly (Darla) Fischer, Fairfield, MT, Shirley (Bob) Schumacher, Fargo, ND, Charlet (Tom) Vetsch, Hazelton, ND and Danette Dunlap, Fargo, ND; 11 grandchildren: Brian (Stacy) Huber, Jessica (Gary) Cassady, Michael Huber, Matthew (Jennifer Gruber) Fischer, Kelli Anne McKay, Britni Fischer, Kassie Fischer, Stephanie (Craig) Williams, Lee (Shayna) Vetsch, Emily Dunlap and Hannah Dunlap; 17 great grandchildren; sister, Carol Wald and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmanuel and Theresa (Heilman) Miller; husband, Lawrence “Larry” Fischer; brothers: Bert, Joe, Frank, Julius and Felix; sisters: Martha Heier, Maggie Kvorak, Rosina Miller, Mary Brandner and Viola Eberle.
