Suffered from a collagen vascular disorder. It started after
she had flu symptoms when she was about 44 years old. This
started an autoimmune response (her body was working against
itself). She was misdiagnosed for about 1 1/2 years. When she
was finally diagnosed correctly, she had to be on high doses
of steroids to stop the disease process. This high dose
steroids had several side effects, which she developed,
including cataracts, lymphoma, diabetes, mood swings, and
others.
Her disease affected her muscles and she was so weak at times
she could hardly walk.
