I am the daughter of Peter and Catherine (Heilman) Schmaltz.  I was born and raised on a farm near Wishek, ND.

In 1935, I entered the Order of the School Sisters of Notre Dame in Mankato, MN.  Two years later, I was received into the novitiate and was given the name Sister M. Petronia.

Since my first profession in 1938. I have been working in community service.  In addition to my years in Minnesota and the state of Washington, I have also been missioned in my home state of North Dakota, serving in St. Pius, Bismarck and New England.  Since 1982, I have been in charge of the bakery at the Motherhouse in Mankato. Daily we serve about 200 Sisters who live on Good Counsel Hill.

I am the daughter of Peter and Catherine (Heilman) Schmaltz.  I grew up on a farm near Wishek, ND, and attended the rural public school.

In 1938, I entered the Candidature of the School Sisters of Notre Dame in Mankato, MN.  That same year, my older sister Magdalena (Sister M. Petronia) made her first profession.  In 1940, I was received as a novice and given the name Sister M. Lucina.

Professed in 1941, I have worked in community service, principally at our Motherhouse in Mankato.  I was in charge of the Sisters' dining room for over 20 years, and for the past 20 years, I have been working in the printing department and in other areas of community service at the Motherhouse. The work in the printing department involved preparing mailings to all the houses of our Province of 600 Sisters.
