went to the Franciscan seminary in Quincy, Ill from August 1979 to June 1980. He went to the Noviatiate in Oak Brook, Illinois in 1980. the Franciscan Institute at St. Bonaventure's in Oleen, N.Y. In the summer of 1980, he went to Indianapolis, Indiana for one year and then he went to Cleveland, Ohio in 1983. He worked as a horticulture therapist at Nature's Bin in Lakewood, Ohio while living with several Franciscan Friars at St. Joseph Franciscan Church in Cleveland, Ohio. He left the Franciscan religious community in December of 1983. He was married at St. Joseph's Franciscan church on June 9, 1984 to Sandy L. Lovelance and moved to Lakewood, Ohio. He has worked in horticulture - both in the wholesale and retail areas ever since. He is currently employed as a garden center manager at Cahoon Nursery in Westlake, Ohio. He and his wife Sandy are still very acitve at their parish church (St. Vincent de Paul in Elyria, Ohio). They are involved in retreat programs, precara team members, R.C.I.A. (Rite of Christian Initiation) and do the activities at the parish and school.

Gerry has served as a Master Gardner for Lorain county from 1990 to the present. He teaches horticulture classes at a local community college and other locations throughout the N. E. Ohio area.
